About the Item

Military Campaign Chest crafted from solid mahogany, featuring a beautifully aged patina, original brass fittings, and locks (later key). The chest includes two upper drawers, a central section with a secretary compartment featuring small drawers and a writing surface, and three larger drawers at the bottom. Gently restored with a light wax finish to preserve its exceptional patina. England, early Victorian period, circa 1860. A Military Campaign Chest is a portable piece of furniture used by military officers during campaigns, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. Made from durable woods like mahogany, these chests often featured brass fittings and were designed in two sections for easy transport. They provided storage for clothing and valuables, with some including writing surfaces. Today, they are valued for their practicality and historical significance
