English Late 19th Century Walnut Chest Signed Waring and Gillow Paris
Located in West Palm Beach, FL
A handsome and most impressive English late 19th century walnut chest signed Waring and Gillow Paris. The five drawer chest is raised by striking ball and claw feet below elegant seashell reserves. The deep arbalest shaped apron displays a superb and most decorative central seashell design flanked by richly carved scrolled foliate movements. The five drawers showcase the stunning wood grain which continues over each drawer with richly chased foliate ormolu pulls. The sides each display exceptional butterfly veneered panels while the top displays a magnificent quarter veneered design also showcasing the stunning warm wood grain framed within a finely carved mottled foliate band at the border.

Gillow & Co. was founded in 1730 and succeeded by the sons who later also established it in London. They rapidly established a reputation for supplying high-quality furniture to the richest families in the country as well as now being known for introducing the Davenport desk...
