About the Item
A rare & Important carved walnut Rococo corner cabinet, Spanish Royal family carved crests, circa 1740.
The cabinet with an ornately & pierced removable crown, carved with a pair of lions rampant holding an armorial crested shield surmounted with a knight's helmet.
The cabinet having twin doors that are finely carved with royal armorials, the cabinet is very finely carved with the coat of arms of the House of Bourbon, whilst ruling Spain. The inside of the door panels are also finely carved with a scrolling floral design, the cabinet is fitted with two shelves with corresponding carved aprons. The cabinet is raised on tall carved paw feet with a carved floral scrolled apron to the center.
Condition is very good indeed, the cabinet has a mellow deep honey colored patina and has just lovingly received a coat of wax in Bloomsbury's professional workshops.
This very rare carved corner cabinet with the Spanish royal coat of arms is ready to grace your space.
The House of Bourbon's coat of arms while ruling Spain was characterized by the incorporation of the family's Bourbon-Anjou fleur-de-lis emblem, a blue field with golden lilies, into a larger shield that also featured the coats of arms of the Spanish kingdoms of Castile, León, Aragon, and Navarre. This emblem, the blue shield with three golden fleur-de-lis, was placed as an inescutcheon (small shield) over the main coat of arms to show the dynasty's rule. The House of Bourbon is the current royal family of Spain.
