About the Item
French 19th century Credenza Server by Alexandre Hugnet. This credenza is an accompaniment piece to another larger Hugnet Credenza in our inventory. Both pieces were acquired from the same estate. "Hugnet Ameublements" St Antoine Paris, a renowned furniture manufacturer operating from Paris’s Faubourg Saint Antoine district, much valued for the quality and craftsmanship. This credenza is a server with one drawer, a large cabinet lower large shelf with shelfs on either side. Used to serve beverages and side dishes. The side shelfs serve well displaying bottles, wine and or beverages, the cabinet can store glasses, and dispensers, bowls and the likes. Stunning smaller Credenza sideboard having a shaped beveled marble top, gilt bronze & brass mounted adornment on Flame Mahogany, Walnut, & Satinwood marquetry with two Lower cabinet doors have a working lock with key. In good condition. France 1880-90

A waisted (refers to specific Chinese furniture construction & joinery) raised top set on frame with hump back stretchers and struts. A most sensational patina of black lacquer worn through to the wood showcases the benches elegant presence and raw beauty. This is an original piece with a 200 plus year history.
