About the Item
An Italian console cabinet from the early 19th century (possibly older). This antique chest from Italy from features a shorter front side which gives way to two chamfered sides, and an elongated backside (meant to be placed against the wall). The top overhangs the case below, which houses a pair of raised-panel doors at front center, and canted sides which mimic the shape of the top. The doors are fitted with elaborate rococo style hardware and show traces of the old floral and leafy scroll design on their fronts. This piece is raised above the ground on carved bulb feet. The finish has been scraped, but still has traces of the original color and design. Note that the original hardware and backside of the cabinet has been previously replaced.
