Antique 18th Century Louis XVI Cylinder Bureau Writing Desk from France

An 18th century French Louis XVI Bureau in Walnut with drop front, inner writing surface and cubby holes.

A very high quality French 18th century Louis XVI period mahogany and ormolu desk or writing table, signed C. Mauter. The desk is raised by elegant circular tapered fluted legs with fine fitted ormolu sabots and richly chased fitted foliate chandelles. Above each leg are lovely fluted block reserves with additional finely detailed fitted chandelles. The scalloped shaped apron displays three drawers, each decorated with most attractive ormolu keyhole escutcheons.
