About the Item
Vintage Chippendale slant top secretary desk / bookcase. Made of mahogany featuring upper bookcase curio cabinet with fretwork doors and open pediment with finial, supported by a serpentine / oxbow secretary desk / dresser that opens to a writing surface with multiple cubbies and drawers. The piece is supported by carved ball and claw feet and also features hidden compartments inside the secretary. These desks are often referred to as Governor Winthrop desks. a style popularized during the Colonial Revival period.
