Elegant Bonheur De Jour Ladies Writing Desk

About the Item

A elegant French bonheur de jour ladies writing desk in kingswood and rosewood, with bronze gilt ormolu mounts to the legs and hand painted Sevres plaques. There is a sliding red leather writing leaf, complete with key. Bonheur de Jours were introduced to Paris in around 1760 and quickly became fashionable. A highly decorative and elegant piece with two pull out drawers, its size and proportions makes this suitable for smaller spaces while still providing ample surface area for writing and storing correspondence. A truly charming piece with graceful curves, delicate hand painted porcelain plaques and skilful carving topped off with a small gallery and ornate handles.
