French 18th Century Louis XV Period Ebony And Ormolu Bureau Plat Partner's Desk
About the Item
An exceptional and most elegant French mid 18th century Louis XV period Ebony and ormolu Bureau Plat partner's desk. The six draw desk is raised cabriole legs with fine pierced foliate fitted ormolu feet and beautiful richly chased foliate corner mounts in a superb satin and burnished finish. The frieze displays a most decorative shape with three drawers at the front and an additional three drawers at the back each decorated with wonderful scrolled foliate pulls and keyhole escutcheons, and with each side displaying concealed pullout writing surfaces. The top and pullouts display beautiful fitted burgundy colored writing surfaces with beautiful foliate gold tooled designs and the top framed within a striking wrap around mottled gallery with foliate corner mounts centered by smooth cabochons.
