About the Item

Late 18th century Georgian walnut bureau circa 1790. Fine quality George III period walnut bureau, fitted with a fall and 2 over 3 drawers. Fall drops down onto pull out slides to provide the writing surface, with an inset leather panel with gold tooling.  Fully fitted interior of drawers and slides and plenty of secret drawers around the central inlaid tabernacle.  Below are 5 oak lined drawers, with cock beaded edging, complete with original ornate brass handles. Raised on 4 ogee bracket feet. Heavy piece. Expected minor surface marks, age splits to sides due to natural shrinkage. Expected rippling to top surface.  Good colour and patina and ready for everyday use. Fall height: 32"
