About the Item

An elegant French Louis XV style Bonheur de Jour mahogany ladies desk with built in center clock surmounting an open cubby with single drawer, flanked by two hidden doors with faux book fronts over two fitted drawers over a fitted leather writing surface with gilt tooled border, over a case with wonderful marquetry, a single fitted frieze drawer, flanked with corner foliate ormolu, all supported by delicate cabriole legs, terminating with foliate ormolu feet. The desk dates likely to the early 20th century and is in very good overall condition, with some veneer shrinkage, imperfections, and minor wear commensurate with age and use. Includes a drawer locking key. Please note that the clock does not appear to be working. Dimensions: 41.5 in H x 26.5 in W x 18 in D. Ref: 8
