About the Item
A spectacular fine quality figured Mahogany partners pedestal desk, after Thomas Chippendale. The beautiful hand carved musical instruments to the sides are taken from the Violin Bookcase in Wilton House, after the design of William Chambers for Thomas Chippendale.
The top with leather panels to the sides, a marquetry inlaid central panel, nine graduating with cupboards beneath, the reverse having two cupboards, a central drawer, all with inlay and cross banded decoration. Gadrooned hand carved mouldings, scrolling cabriole supports, raised on a plinth base.
