About the Item

A fine example of a New England curly or tiger maple slant front desk with compartmentalized interior, including a central fan carved prospect door flanked by four valanced cubbies on each side (one valance missing) over four fitted drawers, a fold out writing surface with repaired hinge area, over four four long drawers, each with period, possibly original, batwing brasses, and a nicely shaped skirt, all supported with bracket feet. Dates to the late 18th century in very good overall condition, with minor shrinkage cracks on the sides, some minor interior drawer losses, refreshed finish, and light overall wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 39 in H x 39 in W x 19 in D. Ref: 8
