Oxford Square by Drexel Faux Brass Base Campaign Style Tambour Roll Top Desk

This is not a 19th century British Campaign roll top desk. It's way better. Why? Because it was made in 1970s in America by Drexel with all the bizarre, stately flamboyance and none of the pesky practicality that real Campaign furniture comes with. In fact, the real brass side handles are only ornamental. Still confused? Well then feast your eyes on the "brass" base that does not actually fold or collapse for efficient travel. The patina you see is forever frozen in time because it's actually wood, painted to look corroded and aged from decades of imperialism. To be absolutely honest, our staff worked on restoring the top section of the desk for days before even noticing that the base was not real brass. It's really quite amazing how convincing it actually looks. The solid pecan body is covered in faux distress and flyspeck to add character. Hand painted gold detailing on the top, front and sides add even more cache. We gravitate towards pieces that are either loved or despised, and this one is perfectly polarizing. Everything on this Oxford square desk works perfectly. The drawers and tambour roll-top open and close with ease. Minor imperfections in the finish on top section (see pic).
