Rare Austrian Biedermeier Walnut Writing Desk, c. 1820

Rare Austrian Biedermeier Walnut Writing Desk, c. 1820 A Rare Austrian Biedermeier Writing Desk, chest of drawers, walnut root head veneered, original brass mounts, the matching veneered front flanked by black polished half columns, above them diagonal inlaid maple stripes. The upper fall front drawer with four small drawers inside is veneered with maple and flanked by small black columns. c. 1820. Three drawers below. 24" deep x 49.5" wide x 38.5" high Provenance: Private Collection, New York, New York Ritter Antik, Inc. New York & Frankfurt Condition: Good overall condition. Evidence of earlier restorations on the desk top. and spot veneer replacement on bottom drawer. An area of missing veneer in one spot on the front drawer, as shown in photo. Wear consistent with age and use.
