Small Burr Walnut Victorian Cylinder Desk

About the Item

A Very Good Quality 19th Century Burr Walnut Roll Top Cylinder Desk, Of Extremely Rare Small Proportions, Having Superbly Figured Sliding Fall, Enclosing Pull Out Interior With Drawers, Pigeon Holes And Ratcheted Leather Slope, Over Six Small Drawers, With Replacement Brass Handles, Raised On Original Plinths With Concealed Castors. This fabulous little cylinder desk is significantly nicer than almost every one of these types of desk from the late 19th century which we have previously come across. Firstly it is constructed from the most wonderfully figured burr walnut veneers throughout and in combination with the unusual small proportions that creates quite an elegant, attractive piece of furniture. Whilst being very attractive this cylinder desk is also incredibly functional, taking up a relatively small space in a room and with a top that can easily be slid away with the lid shut should one wish to tidy the room quickly. It is also worth noting that the desk is as fit for original purpose as it was the day it was made, over 150 years ago! The constuction throughout is of very, very good quality inded and certainly the desk has remained in very good condition throughout. As with all items which we offer for sale this victorian desk has been inspected and attended to in our workshops by our specialist antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish to ensure it is in its best possible condition before being offered for sale and is therefore ready for immediate placement within the home or office.
