About the Item

Space Age Ernest Igl for Wilhelm Werndl directors Igl-Jet fiberglass desk, 1970s This design really evokes the ethos of the seventies - a bright and bold era - with the commonly used material of the time called fiberglass. Ernest Igl aimed to create a desk that focused on functionality combined with an aesthetically pleasing design for everyday use. This can be seen in the playful composition of curved lines and rounded shapes executed throughout the construction. For this outspoken layout, the designer uses minimal colors, such as a light green color on the drawers and white throughout the frame. Taking into account all stylistic implementations, this desk feels retro without clashing with contemporary interiors. Ernest Hofmann (1920-2001) - in 1954 he gave himself the stage name "Igl" - was considered a multi-talent. A designer, sculptor, illustrator and inventor, he designed everything from a harvester to office equipment to a microscope and rubber boots. His oeuvre includes an impressive number of products that are used for all possible life situations. Hofmann, born in Prague in 1920, some graphics in his hometown, in Karlsbad and in Munich, where he settled with his wife. Hofmann initially worked as an illustrator, graphic designer and caricaturist for well-known school book publishers. In 1962 she moved to Rosenheim, which marked the beginning of Hofmann's more design-oriented career. Dimensions in inches Height 29.14 inches. Width 69.69 inches.
