About the Item
John Hollister Risley (1919-2002) black wrought iron bar cart in the design of a horse, complete with two removable bottle holders on each side and a removable glass tray on casters, circa 1955.
The "horse bar cart" is in very good condition, no bends in the wrought iron, bottle holders fit perfectly and are easily removable, so is the glass tray and the glass. The casters roll smoothly.
The "horse bar cart" still has it's original black enameled paint, some chipped paint occurs, which actually plays well with the patina, please refer to the detailed photos. Serving height 25 inches.
An absolutely rare piece in very good condition.
About John Risley: John Risley was an accomplished sculptor, artist, and furniture designer from Waterville, Maine whose skills were honed while obtaining degrees from Amherst College, the Rhode Island School of Design, and the Cranbrook Academy of Arts. He taught at Cranbrook and also served as the wood products designer for the United States Mutual Security Agency prior to becoming a professor at Wesleyan University in 1954, where he remained until retiring in 1987. He was best known for bringing a sense of humor to his work and received international acclaim for his satirical drawings and cartoons, even winning the first prize at the 1983 Festival of Humor and Satire in Bulgaria.
