About the Item

Decorate a bar, wine room, or boutique retail space with this grand and sculptural antique cabinet, crafted in Paris circa 1860 by Pierre Ouvrier, a noted French ébéniste whose original brass maker’s plaque is mounted discreetly on the facade. Built from richly grained oak and set on a beveled granite plinth, the piece is crowned with a dramatic red granite top that echoes the base’s form, combining elegance with enduring practicality. The front of the bar is richly architectural, featuring recessed molded panels framed by boldly carved neoclassical corbels adorned with acanthus scrolls and floral rosettes. The reverse side offers generous storage and work surface utility, including four deep drawers, a central pull-out shelf for extra prep or writing space, and a wide lower shelf perfect for storing bottles, tools, or decorative elements. The contrast between the warm, figured oak and the cool, polished granite provides a refined balance of materials, while the craftsmanship throughout, particularly the joinery and carved elements, attests to the quality of Parisian cabinetry in the mid-19th century. Measuring 69.75” wide by 27.5” deep and 45.25” high, this rare bar is both a statement piece and a functional workhorse. Equally suited for sophisticated residential interiors or commercial environments seeking French historical charm with lasting utility. A superb and rare example of 19th-century French design where architectural presence meets artisanal detail.
