About the Item

The Tabernacle Secretaire is divided into 3 parts. The upper part has a door with a snap lock in the middle, in this compartment the three small drawers on the right and left side can be locked centrally. This mechanism is typical for a Tabernakel Secretaire. The middle part of the Secretaire can be opened, to support the writing tablet, sliding woods can be pulled out on the left and right side. The inside of the Secretaire is covered with fruit woods such as cherry and plum wood. In the lower part there are three large drawers. All the locks are from that time. The fittings and keys are made of brass. The outside of the Secretaire is covered with thick walnut veneer, with marquetry in ebony and cherry. The Secretaire was very well restored and hand polished in our own workshop.
