19th Century Swedish Country Empire Pine Secretaire
About the Item
Unusual country secretaire from the empire period Northern Sweden, 1820 to 1840. Painted with the original faux paint and in original condition. The secretaire is made in Swedish pine and has old hardware in brass. The writers desk has an interior with multiple small drawers, each with a wood knob. Underneath the desk there are doors with shelves behind which are wood bare and always has been. Natural wear and authentic patina after 200 years of use. The patina is antique and time worn which shows the piece's age. Minor loss of material on the writers desk on the inside of the lock which is a result of wear - see picture. Healthy and stable. Height to writers desk is 72 cm.
