Carlo Bugatti (1856-1940), Small writing desk, Bone marquetry, metal, parchment and rope inclusion, Italy, circa 1900. Measures: Height 61 can width 36 cm, depth 17 cm. Carlo Bugatti was born in 1856 in Italy. He began his artistic career in Milan around 1880, after having taken courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brera in 1875, then at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1880, he began a career as a craftsman cabinetmaker, creator of art furniture in Milan and obtained his first successes in France in 1888, then rose to artistic notoriety with a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900 in Paris.
