About the Item

Beautiful solid Cuban mahogany sloping desk with two drawers on each side, each secured by an internal locking system, in a secret cache. Below, a single drawer with identical handles, original lock, entry and original bronze key; all in working order. These drawers are surface-mounted with rounded edges. Above, a single-panel drop leaf with mitered-cut bands on the sides. This one, over the slightly rounded frame, opens with an original key with an original lock in working order and bronze entry. It rests on support pulls on each side with a brass lens button. Inside, we discover a tier composed of three drawers on each side with a bronze pull button. This space also has storage levels and a sliding shelf providing access to the secret cache. The sides of this piece of furniture are slightly curved vertically following the shape of the curved legs, which end in bronze sabots. ******** Period: 18th century. Excellent condition.
