Spanish Late 18th Century Pine Secretaire with Slanted Desk and Geometric Panels
About the Item
A Spanish pine tall secretaire from the late 18th century, with carved date, slanted desk and geometric panels. Created in Spain during the last quarter of the 18th century, this tall pine secretaire features a molded cornice sitting above two doors carved with geometric panels. These doors open to reveal inner shelves sitting above a slanted desk with inner drawers, scalloped accents and a carved date of 1787. The lower section is made of two additional doors. Resting on a bracketed plinth and boasting a nicely weathered patina, this late 18th century Spanish pine secretaire will be an excellent addition to any living room or foyer.

Of lovely, deep, rich color, patina and quality. George III period, circa 1760. The bold, detachable, swan-neck pediment carved with 'Gothic' open fretwork, spiral rosettes and a dentil cornice. The pediment is centred by a small platform below which is a fluted panel. The bookcase / china cabinet section with two, thirteen-pane glazed doors, with three original adjustable shelves with applied beadings for the display of china etc. The base with a pull-out writing section fitted with small drawers, two of which have secret releases. These secret drawers are faced with blind-fret 'Gothic' tracery, and centred by a carved, shaped arch.
