About the Item

Elegant Swedish Rococo Secretary Desk in Black-Painted Pine. Executed in a beautiful and characteristic Rococo style with a wavy body, sides, and back. The slanting writing flap with a profiled, undulating edge opens to an interior in a striking coral-red color with drawers, small shelves, and a sliding panel concealing a “hidden” compartment. The writing surface is covered with original leather, and beneath the flap are wrought-iron pullouts for support. At the bottom, a pair of drawers is finished in a characteristic Rococo form with a wavy edge and elegantly curved legs. A beautiful piece of furniture with an elegant form, carefully restored to preserve its powerful expression. Sweden, c. 1770 Measures open D 95 cm
