Tall Blue Painted Secretary from Sweden, circa 1800-20

About the Item

This striking oak secretary is an elegant statement piece crowned with an elaborate latticework bonnet and finials. The entire secretary has been given a professional custom layered blue painted finish which has been gently distressed to reveal the original oak underneath, adding both dimension and character to this bureau. Please examine the photos to appreciate the beauty and texture of the lovely finish. The close up photos are the best representation of the overall color. The middle section (with contrasting black painted interior) is the traditional desk which includes a multitude of petite drawers and small central "cubbie" which are revealed when the desk work is opened. The upper section has 2 cabinet doors which opens to reveal shelving; note typical age-related separations of back planks. This painted secretary is restored, solid/stable and ready to be used. It is built in two sections allowing for easier transportation and installation; original wrought iron handles at sides of base cabinet. Any scratches, cracks, dings, or age related separation are reflective of age/use and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this striking secretary. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting may all impact how item is viewed.
