Arthur Umanoff Iron Obelisk Pyramid-Form Freestanding Shelving Unit/Etagere

About the Item

Scarcely seen sculptural wrought iron shelving unit designed by Arthur Umanoff for Shaver Howard. Unique, graceful pyramid/obelisk-form with four rectangular shelves in faux wood grain laminated pressboard and a rattan basket. Shelves are mounted by screws and can be removed, if a different shelving material is preferred. Practical, aesthetically pleasing storage/display solution occupying a small footprint. Good, vintage condition with losses to the shelves, as shown. Remains a visually stunning, structurally sound, rare design by Umanoff. All original condition including all parts (note that the vacant space at the top was designed without a shelf, evidenced by the absence of 'ledge' on which the other shelves rest). H: 70" x L: 17" x D: 17.25" Starting at the top, the shelves/basket measure: 1: L: 10.25" x D: 8.75" 2: L: 12.63" x D: 11.25" 3: L: 15" x D: 13.5" Basket: L: 17" x D: 17.25" 4: L: 16.88" x D: 16.75" The height between tiers beginning at the top - 17.88" (pointed top to first shelf) 10.78" (1st shelf to 2nd) 11.75" (2nd to 3rd) 14" (3rd to basket) 8.5" (basket to bottom shelf) Shelves/basket orientation is fixed, not adjustable, though all shelves are removable.
