About the Item

A beautiful 18th century style banded top mahogany English, Georgian sideboard. This sideboard is an antique of large proportions, with the traditional graceful lines of a bowed front classic. Lots of original patina gives this gem the character that many are looking for. Over the years it has picked up some character scars and embellishments. At one time it likely sported a brass gallery rail along the back, but these were quite often removed for aesthetic or practical reasons. Recently this has been sympathetically restored and re-polished to a wonderful gentle soft sheen. A piece such as this 18th-century sideboard was a grand and multifunctional piece of furniture, combining storage, display, and aesthetic appeal. It was a symbol of wealth and social status, reflecting the refined taste and sophistication of the period
