About the Item

19th century French ormolu-mounted marquetry meuble d'appui circa 1880. Marquetry in the manner of of earlier furniture maker Joseph Cremer. Eared rectangular white marble top sits above a frieze decorated with a foliate spray. Panelled double doors centered by oval reserves with loose bouquets, opens to an interior of 2 adjustable shelves. Made in kingwood and inlaid with various specimen woods such as harewood, boxwood and fruitwoods,. Profusely ormolu mounted allover, with mounts to the doors, canted corners and frieze.  Standing on a shaped plinth base. Inlaid and mounted the same to the sides. Working locks and key Minor chips to marble and one small area of fill, minor restorations to woodwork. Superb quality item and ready for everyday use.
