ACO Møbler Sideboard, Gunni Omann, Denmark, 1960s

About the Item

This sideboard by Gunni Omann is a true classic of Danish furniture design. The representative model number 13 is made of very high quality teak and is in an exceptionally good condition. The highlight of the furniture is the design of the front section: three spacious compartments with adjustable shelves are accessible via sliding doors with organically sculptured handles. In the left part of the furniture there are four precisely manufactured drawers, which can be opened via their lip-shaped lower edges. The front of the furniture is framed by protruding body edges with elegant lines. The lower edge runs into conical feet, which are set off by a narrow ring. In addition to the perfect choice of wood, the hallmarks of high quality craftsmanship are the dovetailed drawers, a body made with a miter and with inlaid cornices, and the seamless transitions from solid wood parts to the adjacent veneered surfaces. About the manufacturer: The family business Omann Jun Møbelfabrik A/S was founded in 1933 by Andreas Omann and initially mainly produced bedroom furniture. From the 1950s, the product range was continuously expanded to include sideboards, desks, shelving systems and dining room furniture. The wood types typical of the time, teak, palisander and oak, were used. The company still exists today under the Omann name and manufactures high-quality office equipment.
