Chinese Morning Sky Blue Coffer, c. 1900

About the Item

Created in the style of Mongolian storage coffers, this early 20th-century herdsman's chest has a streamlined design and plenty of rustic appeal. Originally configured to open from the top, this chest was modified with front-facing doors by our carpenters skilled in traditional joinery. Recently refinished with pale blue-grey milk paint that accentuates the wood grain, the minimalist cabinet fits right into the modern home as a sideboard or credenza.
