About the Item

E A Taylor Made by Wylie & Lochhead. A rare exhibition quality Glasgow School oak side board with stylised hand painted painted floral panels. The central pointed detail typical of Taylors work, above two upper cupboards with a central plate rack and a full width plate rack below. A pair of drawers to the lower section which have been cleverly designed to be a part of the angular front, with a row of drawers below flanked by a pair of large cupboards. Silver plated handles with split heart cut-outs. To find hand painted items designed by Taylor and made by Wylie and Lochhead are extremely rare. On close inspection of the last black and white image from the period Wylie and Lochhead catalogue you can actually see the paintings are identical, I have never seen another one of these sideboards which would suggest that this may well be the very one.
