English George III Inlaid Demi Lune Sideboard, 1780

About the Item

George III demi-lune sideboard with four square keyed drawer/door fronts centered on brass drop ring pulls within a circle of rosewood cross banding. The drawer/door fronts are divided in the center of the bow by a long drawer over a rectangular reserve fitted with a demi-lune tambour. The top of the sideboard is mounted with its original brass splash rail, and the case is supported by square tapered legs which terminate in contrasting spade feet. The primary wood is mahogany and mahogany veneers, which are inlaid with holly and ebonized stringing on lemon wood banding framing the doors, both on the drawers and the top. England, circa 1780.
