Exceptional Ludvig Sturm Solid Oak Sideboard, Inrednings-Kompaniet Malmö, 1948
About the Item
This exceptional sideboard was designed by Ludvig Sturm and produced by Inrednings-Kompaniet AB in Malmö, Sweden in 1948.
The sideboard is entirely made of solid oak wood. The exterior is composed of five doors, each panelled with four squares of profiled frames placed diagonally. The alternating placement of the squares create a geometric paneling effect which gives the piece a unique and refined appearance.

The piece is in good, completely original condition with a beautiful patina. Minor wear on the wood consistent with age and use.

About Ludvig Sturm:
Ludvig Sturm was the chief architect of the Inrednings-Kompaniet AB in Malmö. Born in Würzburg, Germany he studied at the Department of Architecture at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. After moving to Sweden, he takes up a position as an interior architect at Boet in Gothenburg in 1929. Boet at that time is one of the best known furniture companies in Sweden under the supervision of Otto Schulz.
After five years working for Boet, Sturm joined Interiörkonst in Malmö in 1934. Two years later, he is appointed chief architect at AB Kåpe. In 1943, he assumes a corresponding position at Inrednings-Kompaniet AB, which produced all of his furniture designs in house. Sturm as lead architect was assisted by Artur Persson.

Nordiska Kompaniet 'Hytte' Armchair in Solid Pine, Swedish Modern, 1940s
By Axel Einar Hjorth, Nordiska Kompaniet, David Rosén
Located in The Hague, NL
This rare armchair was produced by the Swedish company Nordiska Kompaniet in the early 1940s. It belongs to the 'Hytte' series, which is documented in several NK catalogs and advertisements from the time.
The Hytte series was a continuation of Axel Einar Hjorth's Sportstugemöbler ("sports cabin furnishings"), a collection of pinewood furniture designed for country homes. After Hjorth, designer David Rosén carried on this style, creating several series for Nordiska Kompaniet.
Crafted entirely from pinewood, the chair features club-shaped, tapered legs connected by stretchers, a slatted and slightly curved backrest, and carved armrests. It is versatile and can be used as a desk chair or an elegant side chair.
The chair remains in completely original condition, with a natural and even patina on the pinewood. It shows minor wear consistent with age and use. One of the four furniture...
