About the Item

A superb late Geo. III/ Geo IV Antique English Hepplewhite style inlaid mahogany serpentine Sideboard with rosewood crossbanding on top and satinwood crossbanding to the front. Superbly book-matched flame or crotch mahogany drawer fronts with later brass drop-ring handles. The right hand drawer still retains its lead-lined partitioned cellarette drawer to accommodate ice from the ice barges and a drain to remove the water some days/weeks later. The condition is superb and age-appropriate. The drawer linings are solid mahogany, which is quite rare for an early sideboard and the weight of this sideboard is substantially heavier than those of similar style and age. It also retains an antique key that is functioning. The depth is 29.25" in the center and 26.5" at the ends.
