About the Item

Gordon Russell Helix sideboard, model no. R407. Designed in 1950 by David Booth and Judith Ledeboer. Circa 1950s. Architectural firm Booth & Ledeboer was founded by David Booth (1908-1962) and Judith Ledeboer (1901-1990) in Britain in the late 1940s. Marrying craftsmanship with the latest technology, this fabulous sideboard is veneered in sapele wood. The doors are veneered in contrasting Bombay rosewood, having recessed 'Helix' design to show the white birch. The frame and legs are solid wood. The interior has a recessed shelf to hold bottles, along with a drawer which is lined in baize for cutlery. The interior is in good condition, the left hand side base has a few marks. The drawer has the original brown baize, showing some light marks. The Helix sideboard was exhibited at the Festival of Britain in 1951 and this model is held within the V&A collection. In excellent clean condition, with no damage. The doors work well, and are flush when closed. Delivery included to mainland England, Wales and southern Scotland.
