Haagse school buffet cupboard by Anton Lucas, 1930s
About the Item
This beautiful art deco sideboard is a rare example of Haagse school design by designer and Carpenter Anton Lukas in the early 1930s.
The sideboard is made of oak and macassar ebony wood.
Under the top shelves, there is the original lighting, but also 2 working lights from our period. (The lights themselves are not noticible, only the shine)
The sideboard is in good used condition, with some lighter spots on the top. (Please check pictures)
The sideboard has 3 cupboard, that slide well. Next to that 2 doors with working original keys.
The Haagse School was a Dutch artistic movement that emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for its emphasis on simplicity, craftsmanship, and natural materials. Anton Lucas was a prominent furniture designer of with this movement. The sideboard reflects the Haagse School's characteristic features, such as clean lines, solid construction, and traditional Dutch design elements.
Haagse school, although in the same tradition, is much more unknown then Amsterdamse school en pieces are much more rare and harder to find.
