This is a very old large Tansu made in Japan. This furniture is from the Meiji period (1860s-1900s). It is made of zelkova and cedar wood. The design is ultimately simple and lean. It is characterized by its Japanese-like simplicity. The lattice sliding door creates a beautiful scene. It has been used and shined, and its color has become rich and tasteful. We carefully and meticulously maintained it so as not to spoil the beautiful atmosphere of the passage of time. The sliding doors have been made to open and close smoothly. We washed and disinfected the entire furniture with water. You can use it with peace of mind. It is in very good condition for furniture of this period, with no insect infestation. This furniture evokes the spirit of “wabi-sabi,” the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty that is modest and humble, unconventional and the opposite of vulgarity. It is a unique and very rare piece of furniture. It weighs approximately 60 kg.
