About the Item

Large sacristy buffet from the late 18th or early 19th century. Solidly crafted in oak. Originally, the piece was used to store high-quality vestments, robes and cassocks, as well as antependia and other liturgical objects in the sacristy of a church. Since the precious vestments were mostly made of brocade and pure silk and therefore should not to be folded, the dimensions of the piece had to be correspondingly wide and deep. Today, this authentic, one-of-a-kind piece is ideal as a spacious sideboard and an absolute eye-catcher in living rooms, shops and restaurants alike. Classic design and clear lines are combined here with traditional craftsmanship and the beautiful texture of old, natural light oak wood. Traditionally crafted in a studded construction, the oak body has side panels with a smooth skirting board and a slightly protruding top panel. The front is symmetrically divided by one large and two smaller drawers, corresponding to a double door flanked by two single doors. The front edge of the top, drawer fronts and door frames are profiled. Original external hinges and iron fittings are fitted. Inside, the piece has a shelf behind each of the doors on the right and left. Behind the double door are five large pull-out shelves that were originally used to store the liturgical textiles. These shelves can also be removed individually, allowing you to create shelves as you wish. Dimensions Height: 109 cm / 42.91 inch. Width: 288 cm / 113.38 inch. Depth: 76.5 cm / 30.11 inch. Internal dimensions of the drawers: 9.5 cm (3,74 in.) high, 35.5 cm (13.97 in.) wide, 60 cm (23.62 in.) deep or 9.5 cm (3,74 in.) high, 147.5 cm (58.07 in.) wide, 60 cm (23.62 in.) deep. Boards: 59 cm x 150 cm / 23.22 inch x 59.05 inch. Shelves behind the small doors: 39/ 30.5 cm (15.35/ 12 in.) or 33/ 37 cm (12.99/ 14.56 in.) high, shelf depth: 60 cm (23.62 in.) Clear dimensions of the two door openings: 71.5 cm (28.14 in.) high x 41 cm (16.14 in.) wide. Authentic, ready-to-use condition with age-related signs of wear, including partial old woodworm tunnels (not active!) and visible repairs. The furniture has been extensively shortened by approx. 20 cm in depth and largely reassembled with the original components (original cassette back panel). The surface has been sandblasted over the last few decades and has now been carefully sanded. Some new locks have been fitted. Additional photos available! Please just send a message.
