A Monumental Brutalist Console with Geometric Doors, Belgium

About the Item

This monumental sideboard was made by De Coene Frères, an elite Belgian furniture manufacturing company that operated from 1889 until the early 1970s. Over the years, De Coene Freres Produced a wide range of furniture from high quality materials such as oak, walnut and mahogany. They even produced furniture for the Normandie (1935), the most luxurious ocean liner ever produced. By the 1960's and 70's they had adapted their production to the most modern style of the period, brutalism. This long sideboard is made from subtle mahogany veneers and solids and polished to a high sheen. The facet-fronted piece is a long example of its kind with 5 doors, instead of the more typical 4. Inside, the shelves are adjustable.
