Napoleon III Sideboard in Blackened Wood and Gilded Bronzes
About the Item
Blackened wood cabinet with fluted columns and arched sides topped by a white marble top.
The cabinet is decorated with chiseled and gilded bronzes. Musical instruments ornate the belt. The medallion represents an allegory of Love with two characters dressed in the antique style. Behind them a burning brazier burns on an altar. The rest of the decorations are composed of trophies, foliage, flowers and water leaves. The door opens with a key on 3 shelves. There are two gilded bronze lock entrances: one real and one fake on the opposite side. The key is decorated with a fleur-de-lis.
This work is representative of the Napoleon III period in the 19th century.
