Original Blue Painted Sideboard Cabinet, Sweden dated 1843

About the Item

While you can frequently find original painted Swedish trunks, it is difficult to find a cabinet or sideboard with exceptional original folk art paint such as this one. The two panel doors are painted with a traditional floral/vase motif against a soft blue background (which will take on a darker hue in settings with less light). The double monogram and date of 1843 indicate it was likely a very special wedding present for a young couple. It never had pulls and the old lock was removed years ago, so presently you open the door simply at the edge. Please take a moment to look at close up photos to appreciate the delicate painting and delightful details including the warm patina where the paint has been worn down to the natural pine below, perfectly distressed with age. Restored, strong and stable, this cabinet is ready to be placed and enjoyed. Any scratches, cracks, dings, or age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this special sideboard. Refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting may all impact how item is viewed.
