About the Item

Striking Scandinavian Modern figured birch demi lune sideboard/bar cabinet signed Otto Meyer, Snedkermester, Kobenhaven, 1918. Featuring a large central top drawer flanked by a pair of unusual demi lune side drawers above a recessed tambour front storage compartment, with two wonderfully figured birch demi lune doors on each side. Stylish front cabriole legs, hand painted faux marble top. Snedkermester- master cabinet maker; Kobenhaven- Copenhagen Otto Meyer worked with some of the most admired Scandinavian Modern designers including Kaare Klint and Arne Jacobsen. This Sideboard/Bar is a rare early example of his work executed in luminous figured birch wood. Very good condition commensurate with age, no repairs, very minute surface wear consistent with age. References: Hans Helge Madsen and Otto Käszner The Danish Architectural Press 2003. ... Møller and Kay Gottlob and a sideboard was shown that was designed by Kaare Klint that was made by the cabinetmaker Otto Meyer.
