About the Item

An Extremely Attractive And Very Good Quality Late 18th Century, George III Period, Mahogany Serpentine Sideboard, Of Rare Small Proportions, Having Superbly Figured & Crossbanded Top, Over Four Drawers Retaining Original Circular Brass Plate Handles, With Fine Inlaid Decoration To Shaped Frieze, Raised On Elegant Square Tapered Legs Terminating On Original Spade Feet. This lovely and charming 18th century georgian mahogany sideboard is the perfect size when it comes to being both functional, but also at the same time practical in terms of not overpowering a room with its length or depth like so many georgian sideboards which you will find. Overall it retains a lovely untouched colour and patina showing that it has been both well used, but also well loved and looked after throughout the many years of its life. Indeed it’s amazing to think that it is very much as fit for purpose today, as it was the day that it was made. It also boasts some quite exceptional inlaid decoration, enough to really lift the sideboard and give it a classy, sophisticated feel, but not so much that it becomes overpowering. The drawers themselves also have some useful and unusual little removable compartments which is a really nice feature of note. As with all our items this sideboard has been attended to in our worksops by our highly trained, skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers, before being offered for sale, meaning it has received any work required to ensure it is ready to place straight into the home, including a natural wax polish. Circa 1780. Height 35in. Width 55.5in. Depth 28.25in. A superb quality and extremely attractive 18th century, Chippendale period, georgian mahogany kneehole desk, having well figured rectangular top over slide, central cupboard and arrangement of drawers, retaining original rococo brass handles, raised on original shaped bracket feet. There are of course various different designs to be found along the same theme, but as a general rule that is the form you will usually find in a georgian kneehole desk...
