About the Item

A Vintage Schmieg and Kotzian sideboard in excellent condition. Both elegant and incredibly detailed this beautiful Vintage Schmieg and Kotzian Sideboard has everything one could ask for as a center point for the dining room. The sideboard has a large amount of storage space featuring two wide drawers in the center and flanked by two smaller drawers on the outside of the upper bank as well as two cupboard area behind doors. Inside the center drawer is a factory original silver storage area which can be removed if needed. Both of the drawers on the outside of the center drawer area are dovetailed with the secondary portions of the drawers being produced from oak and all of the drawers also feature drawer glides for easy opening and closing. Below the top drawer is another large drawer. The serpentine shaped front is a classic design feature and this shape is highlighted on the top of the sideboard and this shaping continues downward and is reflected on both the door and drawer fronts. High quality construction throughout is exemplified in the solid mahogany legs, the designer style solid brass hardware as well as the dovetailed drawers. This Serpentine Mahogany Sideboard rests on six fantastic, inlaid tapered legs, each of which is surrounded by beautiful banding near the bottom. The four front legs each have wonderful burled inlays set in oval shaped patterns. Meanwhile the drawers of the Schmieg and Kotzian Sideboard are each outlined in a fine pin striped inlay pattern as well. All of this is topped off by a richly grained figured mahogany top of the finest quality. As with all antique and used pieces of furniture there will be some small signs of wear and tear but overall this item is in excellent condition. Measures 76?w x 23?d x 36?h Schmieg and Kotzian were the premier furniture manufacturing company in New York City for many generations and their commissions included all of the most famous people and companies in the USA at the time including the Waldorf Astoria, the Supreme Court of the United States and all of New York’s social elite.
