French 19th Century Empire St. Ormolu Cabinet Vitrine

About the Item

A handsome and most impressive French 19th century Empire st. ormolu cabinet vitrine. The vitrine is raised by striking paw feet with luxuriant pierced palmette designs. Above the straight mottled base with a beautiful mottle design are the two doors each decorated with richly chased beaded and delicately reeded bands. The doors open to reveal all original hardware and four glass shelves that are also visible through the glass sides. Molded architectural columns lead up each side to striking richly chased laurel wreaths with crossed arrows. Stunning intricately detailed swaging floral garlands with charming tied ribbons and fine rosettes extend along the top crown below a superb dentil and mottled design. The inside is upholstered with a beautiful yellow Fortuny fabric. All original gilt throughout.
