Large Qing Elm Armoire with Carved Motifs and Red Lacquered Accents

About the Item

A large Chinese Qing Dynasty elmwood armoire from the 19th century, with hand carved panels, red lacquered accents and bronze hardware. Created in China during the 19th century, this elm armoire features a thin cornice resting upon a perfectly organized façade, showcasing four removable panels sitting above three drawers and a pair of double doors. Our eyes are immediately drawn to the carved accents showcasing architectures and animals in landscapes, highlighted with traces of gilding and standing out beautifully on a red lacquered ground. Once removed, the panels reveal inner shelves offering convenient storage space. The three drawers, carved with foliage motifs, are fitted with c-scroll handles while the lower doors present a bronze medallion echoed from the upper panels. With its large proportions and delicately contrasting colors, this Chinese Qing elm armoire will be a great decorative addition to any living room or bedroom.
