About the Item

Beautiful 1950s bar cart by Italian artist-craftsman Aldo Tura, featuring the designers distinct use of brass and deep brown lacquered goatskin that Tura was well-known for. The quality of Aldo Tura's craftsmanship can be attributed to the fact that his work was only produced in a controlled quantity. Two separate drop-leaves can be operated independently so this piece is quite versatile and can be easily reconfigured for your room or party. Consider using this for its obvious use as a liquor cart but also consider for other uses such as a towel stand in a bathroom or an end table / side table to a sofa or bedside table. Could also work great to fill a gap in a space to hold picture frames or ephemera. This handsome Italian bar cart would be a great addition to a Classic, Mid-Century Modern, Post-Modern, Traditional, or Contemporary living room, den, family room, office, games room, man (or woman!) cave or bedroom. It would also be an Apt choice for a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing boutique. MEASUREMENTS: H 29.5" x W 31" x D 18.5" (both leaves collapsed) H 29.5" x W 31" x D 29.25" (both leaves expanded) CONDITION: Good vintage condition. Stable and sturdy, ready to be used immediately. Two of the four wheels do not roll, wheels inside of caster casing can be replaced. Minor wear such as light patina, small craquelure, dings and light scratches / scuffs to the finish as expected from age and use.

Art Deco Dry Bar Cabinet with Gold Leaf Doors, circa 1930s, Restored
By Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This restored art deco cabinet features gold leaf double doors, trim and base detailing with lacquered burgundy exterior. Ideal for use as a dry bar for holding liquor and glassware or as an apothecary cabinet. Beautiful lacquered burgundy with gold leaf details, the interior is fitted with glassware shelves and a single pull out shelf. Working key is present. This circa 1930s restored storage cabinet in manner of Emile Jacques Ruhlmann would work great in an Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Post-Modern or Mid-Century Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern, Danish Modern or Zen / Minimalist room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, or Classical room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Caned Sculptural Cabinet by Vladimir Kagan for Grosfeld House, 1950s, Signed
By Vladimir Kagan, Grosfeld House
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This very rare sculptural caned cabinet was designed by Vladimir Kagan and crafted by Grosfeld House during the 1950s in New York, documented in early Grosfeld House advertisements (see photos). Featuring sculpted legs, a caned door (with original unaltered caning in excellent vintage condition) with brass handle, and interior outfitted with two compartments, one side with an adjustable shelf. While the cabinet is small in size, it is huge in personality. Vladimir Kagan's works have been highly valued by collectors and art / design investors, and his earlier works in the 1950s for Grosfeld House and Kagan-Dreyfuss are among the most sought after by 'purist collectors' like myself. Why do I prize his 1950s works above all else? I can write a short book on this, but one easy to explain reason is that this was a period unlike the rest of his career, where items produced in this time are hallmarked within that period - a distinction that his later works lacked. Essentially, everything post the early 60s blended together with the decades thereafter. A novice Kagan collector is content with anything by Kagan, even items produced by Directional and American Leather Company...
