About the Item

This elegant dry bar cart, designed by Italian master Carlo de Carli and produced by Fiarm Scorzé in 1965, is a beautiful representation of mid-century Italian design. Constructed from curved plywood with a rich rosewood veneer, the bar features a smooth, symmetrical form, highlighted by its practical, thoughtfully organized compartments. It rests on rubber-finished cast metal wheels, making it easily mobile and versatile for a range of entertaining spaces. The interior and top surfaces are finished in white laminate, creating a striking contrast with the dark rosewood and accentuating the cart’s clean, geometric lines. The bar’s design includes identical doors on both sides, providing symmetrical storage for glassware, while a central folding door opens to reveal a spacious bottle compartment, making it functional yet refined. Beneath the central compartment, a discreet drawer offers additional storage for bar accessories, adding to its utility. The bar is in excellent original condition, with only minimal signs of age-related wear, which contribute to its character and authenticity. Carlo de Carli, born in Milan in 1910, was an influential architect, designer, and academic, recognized for his contributions to modern architecture and industrial design. Known for his sensitive approach to space and material, de Carli’s work reflects an Italian modernist sensibility that combines elegance with functionality. His notable creations include the iconic Model 683 chair for Cassina, which won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro in 1954. This bar cart, like much of his work, is a testament to his skill in crafting pieces that are both artful and practical, a perfect addition to any setting that values Italian design heritage.
