Beautiful emerald green bar cart by Italian artist-craftsman Aldo Tura, featuring the designers distinct use of brass and lacquered goatskin that Tura was well-known for. The quality of Aldo Tura's craftsmanship is due to the fact that his work was only produced in a controlled quantity. This rare color example, perfect for an interior designer or collector client, is signed underneath with an Aldo Tura label and rarely found but is still present on this example, the original Aldo Tura hang tag made from goatskin as can be seen in the photos, helping to prove its authenticity and adding to its long term investment value. This bijou drinks trolley comprises of two levels with slender brass legs and wheels to allow for ease of relocation. The brass shows admirable traces of patina that has built up over time, beautiful age that can not be replicated with newly produced items. Two separate drop leaves can be operated independently so this piece is very versatile and can be easily reconfigured for your room or party. Gorgeous emerald green colored lacquered goatskin with some cream colored areas. Beautiful colors and tonality. Many of the green colored examples have these changes in color, we are unsure if the goatskin was intentionally dyed this way or if it is possible that they fade with UV sunlight. Consider using this for its obvious use as a liquor cart but also consider for other uses such as a towel Stand in a bathroom or an end table / side table. Could also work great to fill a gap in a space to hold picture frames or ephemera. This handsome Italian bar cart would be a great addition to a Classic, Mid-Century Modern, Postmodern, traditional, or contemporary living room, den, family room, office, games room, man (or woman!) cave or bedroom. It would also be an Apt choice for a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing boutique. Admirable traces of patina from age and use, mostly concentrated to handles. As expected, minor signs of use commensurate with age are evident. Aldo Tura

One of the most enigmatic and polarizing figures to emerge in Italian design, Aldo Tura is an outlier in the world of mid-century furniture. The designer’s glamorous bar carts, coffee tables, cabinets and more resist categorization and draw inspiration from Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Baroque, Surrealist and modernist styles.

Tura moved through distinct phases in his career in terms of aesthetics, influences and finishes, rendering his life’s work exciting and diverse. Despite these phases, he held a singular devotion to one material: lacquered goatskin. Tura established a furniture production house in 1939 in Lombardy, and some of his early work focused on tables, decorative lamps and more. He later expanded to bar furnishings like rolling carts, cabinets and complementary barware accessories like ice buckets and cocktail shakers. The eccentric, gleaming and luxe surface of lacquered goatskin was a constant, along with eggshell, parchment and leather.

By the 1950s, Tura had begun to use hand-painted figural panels on the surface of cabinets, serveware (such as carafes) and other pieces. He even replicated famous works by artists like Monet and Bruegel the Elder and art from the Middle Ages, sometimes playfully embedding the paintings on cabinets shaped like oversize books. Even though he had a favored color palette of rich chocolate browns and deep emeralds, his style remained consistently hard to define.

Tura was unlike most of his Italian contemporaries but held a similar reverence for the nation’s traditional craftsmanship and artisanal techniques. He never followed the growing trend of mass-produced, industrial furniture and stuck to creating small, meticulously handcrafted collections. This principled choice means that today, a Tura piece is a rare and highly coveted collectible. The Tura firm continues to operate in Brianza, promoting Italian craftsmanship and the eclectic materials embraced by their namesake designer.
